The thing that got me started on becoming a creative “maker”- the awe-inspiring and ever-perplexing artisan keycap (see Artisan Keycaps: What the heck?). I started making keycaps in the fall of 2017 under the guise “Fraktal Kaps” (which was based on how my thought process consists of tons of facets that usually don’t quite fit together). I spent some time perfecting my methods (ie: messing up non-stop), and had my first official sale in the spring of 2018. It’s been an on-and-off again whirlwind ever since. I painstakingly create every single keycap from scratch, using ancient casting techniques, and usually with the assistance of some molasses-derived spirits. Although I have now branched out to other areas, keycaps will always be the heart and soul of Fraktal Designs.

While Fraktal Designs started off as Fraktal Kaps doing artisan keycaps, I always knew it would branch out into other creative spaces. I’m an itchy tinkerer- I can’t sit still, and I LOVE creating things. I’ve experimented with a few other resin creations and oddities, as well as designed a custom mold-making system, and other various tools. Currently I’m working on some pretty bad-ass behind-the-scenes projects that may or may not include artisan cases, full keyboards, and other crazy stuff to make your workspace a little more fun and a lot more personalized.
